Nessy

Vanessa Montes a.k.a Nessy, born in Lima, Peru and raised in the lovable “305-city” of Miami, FL. I come from a beautiful family, I couldn’t have asked for better, they are my inspiration and reason to love life.

Came to the US in 1990. I had a rough time adjusting to the American culture and the language barrier was definitely a problem for me. Nonetheless, ESOL saved my butt. If you know what that is, then you totally get me and most likely cracked a smile.

My career starts at the age of 12 in the “school of hard-knocks”. The times I recall getting into trouble at school was for reselling merchandise and trying to make side money out of airheads, blow-pops and jolly ranchers. Who knew I was a sale rep at such young age? I come from a single-parent family and two siblings. Money didn’t grow in trees for us.

After high school I pursued a career in design and technology at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.  I graduated with a degree in Computer Science majoring on Multi-Media & Design in 2005

From all the different job experiences growing up I have attained several great qualities, maturity, and listening skills.  Most of all, I understand the meaning of hard work, teamwork and dedication. I believe the hard knocks of life prepared me for the adult stage. I had a good head on my shoulders by the time I started my professional career.

Immediately after graduation I worked at Suncoast Marketing Inc., a distributor for printing and promotional products in Fort Lauderdale.  I moved my way up the corporate ladder starting as an entry level graphic designer to becoming their Graphic Arts & E-Commerce Director where I led their creative department. After nearly 6 years, I resigned to follow a dream to become an entrepreneur.

I also help run Chef George Catering, a special events catering company in Broward operated by chef Jorge Montes. Does the last name sound familiar? The chef is my brother. We opened the family-owned business late 2008, we are very excited about this new venture and working hard to fulfill this long-time dream of owning a business.

One of my latest community projects, South Florida Freelance Network (SF2N) is a community group made up of local freelancers who specialize in design and visual communications. Membership is free. Monthly speakers and events. Feel Free to Join

Since I still had soooo much time on my hands, my bother and I started a Cooking Class group in Davie. Homemade Chefs are people who found themselves in the kitchen preparing meals either from scratch, watching the Food Network, reading cook books or maybe you’re just a natural! This makes you a home made chef and King/Queen of your kitchen :D

Wrapping it up I have over 9 years of experience in graphic design and interactive media.  I specialize in branding, social media and web solutions. Contact me if your looking for creative ideas for your next project or event. Thank you for visiting, drop me a line ;)

Cheers,

Vanessa Montes
